The cricketer who played for 24 years , scored more than 30,000 runs in International cricket , have 100 International centuries with his name , is a part of Indian Cricket World Cup winning team in 2011 , named as “Player of the Tournament” in World Cup 2003 in South Africa , the only cricketer to play 200 test matches in cricket history and is the only Indian Sportsman to be honoured with the highest Indian Civilian Award “Bharat Ratna”. He is called as the “Master Blaster” of Indian Cricket. He is none other than “SACHIN TENDULKAR”.
Sachin full name is Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar , he was born on 24th April 1973. He started playing cricket at the young age of 11 , and go on to play for India at the age of 16 , debut against Pakistan in Karachi on 15th November 1989. Sachin has the record with his name of the highest run scorer in ODI and Test Cricket. Sachin played 664 international cricket matches in total, scoring 34,357 runs.
Awards and Honours :
- There are 100’s of honours that Sachin got during his cricketing career and even after retiring , is still one of the most valued celebrity brands in the country.
- In 1994 , Sachin received Arjuna Award and India’s highest sports honour, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 1997.
- He was honoured with India’s 2nd and 4th highest civilian awards of Padma Vibhushan & Padma Shri in 2008 and 1999 respectively.
- Sachin won Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for cricketer of the year at the ICC awards in 2010.
- He was regarded as the 2nd greatest test batsman of all time after Don Bradman and the 2nd greatest ODI batsman after Sir Vivian Richards.
- Sachin was the 1st sportsperson to receive the honorary position of Group Captain by Indian Air Force.
- He was named Member of the order of Australia in 2012.
Sachin was selected to play for Yorkshire in 1992 at the age of 19, becoming the first overseas player to represent Yorkshire. He played 16 matches for Yorkshire and scored 1070 runs at an average of 47.
Sachin is the 1st player in the game to score a double hundred against South Africa in Gwalior on 24th Feb 2010. He is the first player to reach 12000, 13000, 14000 and 15,000 runs in Test cricket.
Personal Life :
Tendulkar married Dr. Anjali in 1995 at the age of 22 and is a father of two children , a boy Arjun and a daughter , Sara. Sachin has interest in number of businesses and he continuously involves himself in number of entrepreneurship programs. He was and still associated with number of brands for endorsements.
There are number of books written on Sachin Tendulkar , and his autobiography “Playing It My Way” released on 6th November 2014 that was published by Hachette India . The book was such a hit that it entered Limca Book of Records in 2016.

Sachin has his fans throughout the Globe and especially he scored number of centuries in Australia and earned lot of love from people of Australia and players. Matthew Hayden one mentioned that “I have seen God. He bats at No. 4 for India in Tests.”
There is a popular saying by Sachin’s fan , “Cricket is our Religion and Sachin is our God.” While Tendulkar has always said, “I make mistakes. God Doesn’t. I am not God of Cricket.”

And finally after serving the country for long 24 years that saw number of ups and downs , filled with injuries , gave us thousands of memories , ended on 16th Novemebr 2013 , when he retired after playing his 200th Test match against West Indies in Wankhede Stadium , Mumbai. Sachin already announced his retirement from ODIs in December 2012 and from T20s in October 2013.
