Sleepiness is a common problem that is increasing from last few years. Feeling Sleepy throughout the day , has become a common trend. Whether it is during your work hours, while driving or while eating . Even after getting a good 7-8 hours of night sleep , people feel tired the whole day.

Odd times sleep is a common problem among people, but if you feel sleepy throughout the day , then there is more attention to be paid. There can be problems related to health or to your mind also , that is causing you to feel tired the whole day and you should identify and rectify as soon as possible. Other reasons causing your sleepiness the whole day can be getting less sleep at night , working in shifts or travelling more.

If you think , sleeping 5-6 hours a day is enough for you , then you are inviting some serious health problems. Atleast a sleep of 7-8 hours is needed to properly fuel yourself up for the next day. There are various signs that your body indicates if you are going through this phase.

  • Feeling sleepy during work hours.
  • Disturbing your partners with your snoring.
  • Taking more than an hour to sleep at nights.
  • Even after taking several short naps , you feel sleepy throughout the day.
  • Insomnia is a common problem.

The other health problems that are making you feel sleepy whole day can be :

1. Diabetes :

Feeling tired can be a sign that you are suffering from Diabetes. Other symptoms of Diabetes are feeling too much thirsty , weight loss .

2. Depression :

Depression not only makes you feel sad and tensed , but it can also make you feel tired . Depression can deprive you of sleep and also can make you wake up early in the morning and you will feel tired for rest of the day.

3. Anxious :

Its quiet normal to feel anxious at some moments. But anxiety in some people is so strong and uncontrollable , that it affects their daily lives.

4. Thyroid :

A thyroid is a gland that reside in your neck. An under active thyroid gland will make you feel sleepy and tired throughout your day.

5.  Anaemia :

Anaemia is deficiency of red cells or haemoglobin in the blood , that results in fatigue and tiredness in your body.

You should figure out your sleepy and tired body symptoms as soon as possible and consult a doctor to cure it at the earliest.

Here are some possible solutions that can help you get out of your deprive sleep problem and get a good sound night sleep.

1. Exercise :

Include exercise in your daily schedule. Normal walking , Jogging or Cycling for half an hour day will do wonders to your body.

2. Breakfast :

Researches have shown that people who eat breakfast are more physically and mentally fit, than those who skip their breakfast. Always have your breakfast even if you are not hungry .

3. Drink Water :

Water  helps the flow of all the vital nutrients in your body . You can track your water intake volume through your urine colour . Your urine should be clear or pale yellow colour. Drink atleast 3-4 litres of water daily.

4. Listen Music :

Whenever you feel tired or fatigue , turn on your favourite tunes . It will give you a soothing feeling and will refresh you.

5. Reduce TV and Computer :

The bright light from TV and other screens doesn’t let you sleep easily . Try to turn them off 2 hours before your sleeping time.

6. 15 min. Rule :

This is a scientifically proven method of getting a good sleep. If you can’t sleep within 15 min. , get out of bed and do some relaxing activities like reading books , meditation (Don’t watch TV or surf internet) till you don’t feel sleepy.

7. Small Meals :

Having 3-4 small meals a day will make you feel energetic through out the day. Eating a single heavy meal will take more energy to digest and that will leave your body lazy and tired.

8. Provide more fibre :

Fuel your body with daily recommended 30 to 35 grams of fibre . Black beans and Apple are a good source of Fibre.
